What Exactly is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a series of custom made, clear aligners that gradually move your teeth into proper placement. They’re removable, so you can take them out to eat or drink or even to play sports or a musical instrument, but they’re also comfortable enough that you can wear them all day. Plus, since they’re clear, no one will know you’re even wearing them. You can carry on your day normally – you can even get a whitening treatment in coordination with your Invisalign treatment.

How Do Invisalign Aligners Work?

Dr. Tobin will sit down with you for an Invisalign consultation. She’ll take a look at your current smile situation and what your smile goals might be. If Invisalign is a good fit for you, she’ll develop a treatment plan that includes a series of aligners that will gradually move your teeth into proper positioning and alignment.

We’ll take digital impressions using our advanced iTero 3D Digital Scanner (no goopy, gloppy stuff to bite on) so that your aligners are custom-made to fit your mouth comfortably and perfectly align with all of your dental features.

You’ll wear the aligners for 20-22 hours per day (removing them to eat, etc.) and about every two weeks or so, with Dr. Tobin’s guidance, you’ll move along through the sets of aligners as your teeth gradually move into proper positioning. You can start seeing results in a couple of weeks, and on average most Invisalign treatments last 12-18 months.

How is Invisalign Better than Metal Braces?

Compared to traditional metal braces, there’s no brackets or wires to tighten or adjust, which means a lot less visits to our office than with metal braces. Plus, you can brush and floss your teeth normally since Invisalign clear aligners are removeable. The smooth, clear aligners fit perfectly over your entire tooth surfaces, so there’s no poking wires, no scraping of brackets to the inside of the cheeks, and no rubber bands to keep track of.

How Much Does Invisalign Cost?
